Sigma Technology supports Tiki, a digital learning tool designed to help children with learning difficulties through structured modules, films, and worksheets. Covering Swedish curricula from grades 1–9, Tiki helps simplify complex content for diverse learners with accessible tasks that combine text, sound, and images. Sigma ensures its performance and development by providing expert operations, support, and technical advancement.

In Sweden’s drive toward equal education for all, tools that support children with learning challenges are essential. Tiki is one such tool: a digital platform offering pedagogical modules, short films, and worksheets developed for students with learning difficulties. With a strong focus on clarity, every exercise in Tiki is paired with clear instructions, spoken text, and visual support – helping more students stay engaged and succeed.

Tiki covers the Swedish national curriculum for grades 1–9 in natural sciences, social studies, Swedish, English, and mathematics. It supports educators in making learning accessible, engaging, and inclusive.

The development of Tiki is a collaboration between Sigma Technology Informatics Solutions and Anders Lidén, the founder and visionary behind Tiki Läromedel. With over 45 years of experience in education and more than two decades focused on special education, Anders brings deep pedagogical insight and creativity to the project. As the ideator behind the platform and a pioneer in inclusive edtech solutions, his expertise continues to shape Tiki into a tool that not only meets curriculum needs but also inspires and motivates students through thoughtful design.

Sigma Technology Informatics Solutions is responsible for operating, supporting, and continuing the development of the Tiki platform. The company plays a key role in maintaining and evolving the solution to ensure it stays modern, stable, and aligned with classroom needs.

Erik Hult, expert at Sigma Technology Informatics Solutions, comments: “Tiki is more than a learning platform – it’s a lifeline for students who need a different approach to succeed. With digital tools like this, we’re helping bridge the gap and bring equity to Swedish classrooms.

From the very beginning, our goal with Tiki was to create something respectful. Respectful to students who need to learn step by step, and respectful to teachers who follow the curriculum and guide students toward their goals. In Sweden, special needs education has its own curriculum, yet many materials are just simplified versions of standard content—often presented in a childish way. With Tiki, we took a different path. We built the content from the ground up, presenting it in a matter-of-fact, age-neutral way. Thanks to the digital platform developed and supported by Sigma Technology, we believe we’ve succeeded, and the feedback from the market confirms it,” says Anders Lidén, Founder, Tiki Läromedel i Sverige AB

As Sweden continues to lead in digital education, platforms like Tiki are vital in reaching students often left behind by traditional learning formats. With the support of Sigma Technology, Tiki continues to grow as an inclusive, scalable, and effective solution for 21st-century education.

Sigma Technology Embedded Network is a TOP-3 finalist for the SBUF Innovation of the Year Award. The nominated project, “Safer TMA Shutdowns at Roadworks,” enhances road safety by integrating radar, cameras, and alarm systems to prevent accidents involving TMA vehicles. The winner of the Innovation award will be revealed in Stockholm, on May 17th.

SBUF, the Development Fund of the Swedish Construction Industry, aims to promote development in the building process to create more favorable conditions for construction contractors by enabling them to benefit from research and conduct development work.

Since its inception in 2003, the SBUF Innovation of the Year award has highlighted pioneering advancements that significantly benefit the industry. The selection process is rigorous, with nominated projects required to demonstrate practical applicability, alignment with SBUF’s goals, and high industry impact. Each year, the SBUF board evaluates the nominated projects before selecting a winner. In 2024, more than 100 projects applied for the award.

The TOP-3 finalist project, “Safer TMA Shutdowns at Roadworks,” developed in partnership with Svevia and Vicky Teknik, tackles a critical safety challenge in temporary roadworks by enhancing TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) vehicle safety. These vehicles, essential for collision protection, are frequently involved in dangerous accidents. Our innovative solution integrates radar, cameras, and alarm systems to reduce the risk of significantly hitting TMA vehicles, making work zones safer for road workers and drivers.

Sara Dalvig, a consultant at Sigma Technology Embedded Network, comments: “This technology is revolutionizing roadwork safety. By equipping TMA vehicles with intelligent detection and response systems, we are not only preventing accidents but actively saving lives. Real-time monitoring and instant alerts create a protective shield around road workers, reducing risks and ensuring safer work environments. Our system is setting a new industry benchmark for how technology can transform road safety at critical sites.”

While the system has already proven its life-saving potential, testing has revealed areas for further optimization, such as managing radar reflections and improving pedestrian detection in dynamic roadwork environments.

Danilo Chinchilla Sosa, President at Sigma Technology Embedded Network, shares his vision for smart cities: “We remain committed to developing the technology for smarter, safer infrastructure. This nomination underscores our dedication to innovation and digital transformation in critical sectors. We look forward to the final award ceremony in May and remain hopeful that our project will be recognized for its life-saving potential and industry-wide benefits.”

In collaboration with leading industry partners, Sigma Technology Embedded Network is finalizing the “Safer Crossways” project, which is partially financed by Vinnova and that aims at improving road safety with advanced IoT and digital solutions. The initiative focuses on developing open-standard RSU technologies to protect Vulnerable Road Users and drive Sweden closer to its Vision Zero goal.

The initiative addresses a pressing challenge: advancing Sweden’s Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. In 2024, Sweden recorded 210 road traffic fatalities, marking a decrease from previous years. However, this reduction was primarily observed among protected road users, such as occupants of passenger cars, trucks, and buses. Unfortunately, no significant decline was noted for unprotected road users—pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists—who continue to face risks on the roads.

By developing a non-proprietary, protocol-agnostic Road Side Unit (RSU) architecture, the “Safer Crossways” project seeks to improve infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communication, fostering scalable, interoperable, and cost-effective traffic safety solutions.

Sara Dalvig, a consultant at Sigma Technology Embedded Network working on the project, explains: “Imagine a system where traffic lights, vehicles, and road signs can ‘talk’ to each other in real-time, sharing information about potential hazards or pedestrians crossing the road. Using IoT and smart infrastructure, we are creating a connected network that helps drivers make safer decisions and gives vulnerable road users the protection they need. It’s like giving roads and vehicles their safety team.”

Sigma Technology Embedded Network brings expertise in digitalization, IoT, and embedded systems to the “Safer Crossways” project, developing secure and interoperable RSU solutions. By integrating hardware, software, and connectivity, the company ensures cost-effective, scalable systems built on open standards while enabling data-driven decisions for smarter infrastructure and policy planning.

Danilo Chinchilla Sosa, President at Sigma Technology Embedded Network, shares his vision for smart cities: “We believe that the future of urban living lies in smart, connected solutions that enhance both safety and efficiency. Our vision is to drive innovation through technology that seamlessly integrates infrastructure, vehicles, and people. With projects like ’Safer Crossways,’ we are laying the foundation for smarter, more sustainable cities.”

A collaboration of stakeholders from diverse sectors delivers the “Safer Crossways” project:

  • MittLogik Solutions:Experts in wireless technology and automotive innovation.
  • RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden): A national partner in sustainable development.
  • Public Sector Stakeholders: Including several municipalities in Skåne, alongside initiatives like OpenTech and Future By Lund.

The “Safer Crossways” is a part of FFI (Fordonsstrategisk forskning och innovation) and supports Vinnova’s mission to drive vehicle transport innovations for a sustainable society. Vinnova, in collaboration with the Swedish automotive industry and public agencies, aims to position Sweden as a global leader in sustainable road transport.
